Lake George bound!

(I’m about a week late in posting this. Oops!)

We are currently on our way to our final stop before arriving home. We will be staying in the Lake George area over the Labor Day weekend.

After two wonderful days with Chris and Marianne (more on that in a minute), we spent two dreary days in New Hampshire, where Greg read his book and I worked on my genealogy stuff. Plus, Greg picked up another prescription for his sinus infection. This has not been a good trip for our health! I am debating calling my doctor today and asking for yet another prescription for my UTI.

Chris and Marianne

Our first stop after returning to the States was the Acadia Seashore Campground, where Chris and Marianne have a seasonal site.

After setting up, we joined Chris and Marianne for a relaxing visit looking out over the water.

I could say more about that relaxing visit overlooking the water, but what happens in Acadia stays in Acadia!

The Schoodic Peninsula

The next morning, Chris and Marianne took us on a scenic drive around the Schoodic Peninsula.

First, we stopped at the visitor center, where I took this picture of our route.

After a couple of stops to enjoy the scenery, we took a tour of the Schoodic Institute.

The stone and brickwork on the exterior of the building were absolutely beautiful.

At the point of the peninsula, I tried to get some photos of the waves crashing against the rocks so that I could practice my wave painting later, but I was not terribly successful.

After finishing the drive, Chris and Marianne took us to one of their favorite wineries for a wine tasting.

A very pretty path through the woods led from the parking lot to the entrance of the winery.

Revolution Rail

The next day, we took a rail bike tour along some old railroad tracks. The company that ran the tour was called Revolution Rail.

Here we are getting our instructions for how to operate the rail bikes. They were motorized. Greg was the “conductor” in charge of the accelerator and brake.

I had told Marianne before we arrived in Maine that I was interested in going back to Tracy’s restaurant for another lobster dinner, so that’s what we did after our rail bike experience.

This is a photo of Greg’s lobster dinner because, once again, I was too eager to start eating, and I forgot to take a photo of mine.

After our lobster dinner, we stopped at the Sweet Retreat Ice Cream shop for ice cream. I was a complete glutton and had a peanut butter sundae with chocolate ice cream.

Then it was back to the campground to relax for the evening and prepare for our trip to Lake George the next day.

Fourth time’s a charm?

I had been feeling like my UTI was not completely gone by the time I finished my third antibiotic, so while we were driving to Lake George, I called my doctor and asked for a new prescription, which I picked up the afternoon we arrived. Here’s hoping!
